Program Overview

Surrounded by the towering Andes mountains, this program invites students of all majors to immerse themselves in Chilean culture and explore how the global environment is affecting local sustainability efforts. Classes are taught at CIEE Santiago, in English and complemented with co-curricular activities designed to increase intercultural understanding.

Excursions & Activities

  • Participate on day trips that will guide you to discover Chile's diverse geography and natural richness. Enjoy the possibility to be within an hour’s ride of the stunning coast of Viña del Mar or indulge your artistic interests by visiting the picturesque hills of Valparaiso and taking a boat ride in the port to witness the beauty of Valparaiso's architectural wonder.
  • Explore Chile's rich history and impressive art with cultural activities including visits to museums, craft fairs, historic neighborhoods, and theater districts, and walking tours in the varied neighborhoods recognized as landmarks of the city of Santiago.
  • Attend a Chilean folklore workshop led by local dancers to learn about the main folk expressions from the main regions in Chile, their cultural heritage and traditional outfits.
  • Chile is known worldwide for its wine; visit a vineyard and learn about the wine industry and exporting business.
  • Eat authentic Chilean dishes like pebre, Chilean hot dog, pastel de choclo, sopaipillas, Chilean tea time “once”, torta de mil hoja (a thousand leaves cake) among others in picturesque restaurants, bistros, and cafés around Santiago.
