Program Overview

Immerse yourself in Thailand's public health system in this intense, people-to-people program, which seeks to create collaboration between people living half a world apart. Through intensive courses, language classes, a two-week field research practicum in a community, and site visits, you'll learn about public health in this inviting part of Thailand and discover more about yourself and your role in the world.

Excursions & Activities

  • Take a camping trip to mountainous national park and go to scenic Chiang Khan for a boat ride on the Mekong River
  • Build relationships with frequent two- to three-day community visits using various research tools to assess community public health needs 
  • Feed, bathe, and walk your own elephant with "Elephant Lover Home" in Surin Province 
  • Enjoy a traditional Thai massage.
  • Take a Thai cooking class.
  • Live with a Thai student in a dorm-style room with internet, air-conditioning, microwave, and refrigerator, a five-minute walk to convenience stores, coffee shops, restaurants, nightlife venues
  • Practice your Thai in peer tutor sessions

  • Collaborate in community-based, fieldwork/research.
  • Carry out a modest, half-day public health education project

Financial Information

Policy on Institutional Scholarships
Institutional scholarships are not applied to study abroad costs. We strongly encourage students to apply for scholarships to fund study abroad. Please visit the scholarships page to learn more about scholarships, or see the director of International Education.

For Students Studying Abroad with External Providers during the Spring and Summer 2020 
Morehouse College students will be required to pay our preferred providers directly for all experiences. However, please be advised that we have featured programs from our preferred providers listed on this site, which we have vetted for quality, safety, and cost. While students are not required to choose one of the featured experiences, they are strongly encouraged to do so. Students will enroll at Morehouse. All tuition and fees will be payable to the College. All payments (including financial aid) will be applied to the student’s account at the College and the student will pay the provider directly. Any balance owed to the provider will be the responsibility of the student. Any overpayment to Morehouse College will be refunded.
