Shanghai Summer - Engineering Internship

Program Overview

Starting in Summer 2019, you can a secure a hands-on internship in the pulse of China with the Shanghai Summer – Engineering Internship program. This program is specifically designed for students who are majoring in Engineering or other STEM fields and are seeking technical internships overseas.
Shanghai provides the perfect backdrop and network for an internship in engineering. As the largest city in, not just China, but the world, Shanghai is home to several industrial ‘zones’ focused on technological development. It’s also a hub for transportation and technology, and home to many Chinese and multinational company headquarters.

Our program guarantees an internship placement to help you develop professional skills that will jump-start your engineering career and make you more attractive to employers in today’s competitive job market.

IES Internships’ unpaid, academic engineering internships place interns in fields such as biotechnology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, and other science and technology-related fields. But even before you depart, we work with you to fine-tune your résumé, perfect your cover letter, and hone your networking and interviewing skills, as well as prepare you for working in a new cultural environment.

For your summer internship in China, you’ll be matched with a local business or organization, where you’ll work for at up to 32 hours per week. You can also enroll in an optional Chinese language course if your internship schedule allows. With IES Internships’ dedicated staff and international connections in Shanghai, you can be sure that you’ll have a summer internship that meets your goals. You’ll learn, and learn to stand out!

Why Shanghai?

Study abroad in Shanghai and join over 26 million citizens who call Shanghai—the largest and most developed city in China—home.

A thoroughly modern city risen from a fishing village less than 100 years ago, Shanghai has been heavily influenced by Western business, culture, and architecture.
If you're searching for a rapidly changing, dynamic city in which to study abroad, Shanghai is your destination. Learn the impact of such rapid modernization on local customs and the environment. You can practice your Chinese, study business in this bustling metropolis, do a full-time summer internship, and more through our four Shanghai study abroad programs.

We strive to make sure you feel safe, cared for, and at home while you’re away from home.
